For three decades, PEP has gathered the literature and video collections of psychoanalysis into a single, searchable home for clinicians, scholars, students, and readers across the world. The website you see today is a renewal of that long-standing purpose: our collection, features, and functionalities, rebuilt on a foundation designed for the way research is carried out now, and for the way it will be carried out in the years to come.
We began this redesign with a commitment to accessibility: the depth and range of PEP's psychoanalytic content should be available to every member of our community. Rebuilding has allowed us to embed accessibility into PEP's very fabric, rather than treating it as a later addition. The result is a website that is clearer to read, easier to navigate, and more welcoming to everyone who uses it.
The features that have made PEP a distinctive and essential research tool have been carefully preserved: the extensive collection, the precision of its search, and its interconnectivity all remain.
Alongside them you will find new tools: the ability to directly export bibliographic citations, to highlight text and keep notes as you read, to organize saved articles, all within an interface that makes searching, reading, exploring and browsing more intuitive throughout.
New technologies are reshaping how scholars and students discover, read, and connect ideas. We have designed PEP to grow with that change, allowing us the flexibility to develop and respond to the evolving needs of our readers.
None of these developments were decided in isolation. The new application is the result of the ongoing dialogue we share with our subscribers, member institutions, librarians, and scholarly partners. Your questions, your commentary, and your accounts of how you use the website continue to guide the choices we make.
We warmly invite you to explore, and to tell us what you find. Your invaluable feedback shapes what PEP is and becomes.
