Introduction

Clinical-Forensic Psychologist-graduate of CWRU, Long Island (MA) and St. John's (PhD) Universities, former Clinical Fellow of Harvard Medical School, in practice since 1986, he works as a Member of Metis Psychological Associates, LLC outside Boston, is a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology, and a member of the China American Psychoanalytic Alliance, the Program in Psychiatry and the Law and has served as an Instructor and Research Associate at Harvard University, Harvard Extension School, and Harvard Medical School, Instructor at Harvard Law School-Trial Advocacy Program, and Boston University, Boston University Law School and Suffolk Law School, and as a Lecturer at Rodger Williams University, Lesley College, China-American Psychoanalytic Alliance, and Tufts University, as well as a Board Member of the Massachusetts Psychological Association and the Correctional Association of Massachusetts, and a member of the Massachusetts Governors Commission on Criminal Justice Innovation. He currently serves on the Executive Board of ISPS (the International Society for Psychological and Social Approaches to Psychosis). He has served as a Clinical Supervisor and Trainer for the Massachusetts Department of Corrections, Erich Lindemann Mental Health Center, the Psychology Lab of the Mailman Research Center at McLean Hospital, the Bedford Policy Institute. He has published and presented on the topics of psychotherapy integration, group therapy, meditation based therapies, integration of psychotherapeutic technique, uses of translators in civil disability assessments, the psychometric assessment of thought disorder, and treatment in correctional environments. He serves as an In-House Psychology Consultant for the Disability Determination Service of the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (SSA), the Disability Evaluation Service of the University of Massachusetts Medical school and a staff correctional psychologist and the United States Postal Inspection Service, and has been on the editorial Board and as an editorial consultant/reviewer and or contributor to the Journal of Integrative and Eclectic Psychotherapy, Schizophrenia Research, Criminal Justice and Behavior, Journal of Psychotherapy Integration, Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, Adolescent Psychiatry, International Journal of Law and Psychiatry, and the International Journal of Controversial Discussions. He has been qualified as an expert in New Hampshire and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and served as an Independent Medical Examiner. He is a Past Master of The Harvard Lodge, AF and AM.

Dr. Pederson is on the editorial board of The International Journal of Controversial Discussions and is the author of The Economics of Libido: Psychic Bisexuality, the Superego, and the Centrality of the Oedipus Complex (Routledge, 2015), which won the Gradiva award for Best Book. His most recent book Psychoanalysis and Hidden Narrative in Film: Reading the Symptom (Routledge, 2018) introduces both new psychoanalytic techniques for working with the body and a new methodology for interpreting film and literature.
