Summary: Siegfried Bernfeld was the head of the pedagogical study group at the Berlin Psychoanalytic Institute from 1928 until 1932. In this group, advanced students gathered for discussions of psychoanalytic pedagogics and its application. The course was part of a training program for pedagogues from 1930 onwards. The minutes of ten sessions in the years 1931/32 have survived. They provide information about the proceedings, the topics and structure of the group discussions as well as about the participants, their interests and the dynamics of the group. In the present paper this source, which has been ignored so far, is explored in a historical context and on various levels. Special interest is devoted to the question of psychoanalytic training for pedagogues and to Bernfeld's role in it.
