LUZIFER-AMOR is the only German-language specialist journal for the history of psychoanalysis and is therefore a rarity internationally as well. It was founded in 1988 as part of the vibrant scene that was then emerging in Germany and Austria in this field. Its scope covers a broad spectrum: Freud's life, work, and historical context; the lives and work of post-Freudian analysts, including their emigration during the Nazi era; the history of psychoanalytic organizations, including issues of training; the development of psychoanalytic theory and practice; and the history of psychoanalysis's impact on fields such as medicine, education, and literature. Reflecting the scene from which LUZIFER-AMOR originated, most contributions come from non-professional historians who nevertheless strive for an academic level of research.
