This paper deals with the early reception of psychoanalysis in the »Bibliography of Homosexuality« in the Jahrbuch für sexuelle Zwischenstufen, the publication organ of the Wissenschaftlich-humanitäres Komitee (WhK). In the bibliography, compiled by the longtime WhK-supporter Numa Praetorius (pseudonym of Eugen Wilhelm), psychoanalysis, like other areas of knowledge production on homosexuality from this period, was viewed critically from the perspective of sexual theory and sexual politics. In addition to the dissent on the question of the origin of homosexuality, which led to a categorical rejection of the concepts and methods of psychoanalysis, Praetorius criticized the healing offers and the (in his eyes) depreciated significance given to the statements and experiences of the patients in psychoanalytic discourse. Although most of the psychoanalysts were against the prosecution of homosexuality, he considered the new discipline as a whole to be counterproductive in the struggle for emancipation.
