In the following conversation with writer and translator Idra Novey, we trace correspondences between translation and writing, translation and analysis to imagine translation not only as a movement from one language to another, but as a mode of listening to the sensibility of the writer and of the patient. Deeply informed by her work as a translator, Novey’s fiction and poetry create intimate testimonies of social and psychic estrangement, loss and the desire for connection and beauty.
