The paper has dealt with certain severe disturbances of ePo development in childhood. Characteristics of such children have been described and assumptions about their future development have been made. A case was reported to demonstrate such a development and one possible outcome.1 It would seem that this group of severely ego-disturbed children represents the pool from which some acute and subacute psychoses—and a variety of less dramatic, not regressive, narcissistic disturbances—emerge.
