In selecting certain sections of the Profile for comment, I have tried to underscore two basic considerations in assessing the blind. On the one hand, we need to give special attention to those areas which are most affected by the impact of blindness; on the other, the usual behavioral manifestations we observe may have a different meaning in the blind.
The amendments I propose are a first step toward constructing the Baby Profile for the Blind. As our knowledge of blind babies increases, others will be added.
