This paper presents the successful analysis of a young man, seriously addicted to heroin. During the 4 years of treatment, distinct parameters became necessary and were analyzed. The therapeutic adjustments were needed to shift the addiction from the drug to the analyst, leading to a gradual, progressive resolution of the extreme dependence.
