The choice, forty years later, of focusing on two articles in this historical volume of 1979 of the Nouvelle Revue de Psychanalyse, made it possible, as is the case when faced with great minds such as André Green and René Diatkine, to see, in the course of an attentive rereading, how the essential aspects of what they proposed remains of lasting relevance and, in a large measure, complementary. In fact, the in-depth development of psychoanalytic knowledge, at all levels, is integrated here in its best aspects. There has certainly been a development of complexity and yet, paradoxically, or apparently so, this clarifies the metapsychology as a whole. The latter is still in movement forty years later, extending its coherence as a truly Freudian model, which continues to follow its path without forming a closed structure. The child-model, in Green's sense, is part of this.
