The author speaks about the vicissitudes of analysis, for it is not a matter of the completion of a process, but of its appropriation, and of an evolution based on the psychic transformations that these processes have permitted. Given the timelessness of the unconscious, the analytic experience lies outside a beginning and an end and remains linked to the permanence of a drive dynamic with an openness towards new objects of cathexis.
To envisage the termination of an analysis, the elements of negative transference caught up in hate and the compulsion to repeat were the object of a work of elaboration implying the indispensable analysis of the analyst's countertransference affects. With Fabien, the author explores successively, the encounter, the work of the session, and the elaboration of hate caught up in the interweaving of the transference/countertransference.
