The report by Maurice Bouvet discusses object relations and depersonalization. He specifies object relations according to their pregenital or genital nature, while emphasizing the importance of orality in the first case. He underlines the interest of evaluating the “distance from the object” in the transference, the gap between the patient's relationship to his object with the relation to his archaic imago which underlies it. “Closeness” between the two can trigger depersonalization, as much when the proximity of the object increases as when there is a rejection.
