The approach to a psychoanalytic contribution requires its contextualization in the history of theorization. Overdetermination due to aspirations for the evolution of the theory is noticeable. The report commented on follows the epistemological method of Freud. A convergence between a new clinical destiny of the drives (psychosomatics), the theory of dreams (the oneiric function) and new theoretical elaborations (“operational thinking”) is posited. Metapsychologizing a drive vicissitude follows a path in two stages which implies a detour via dreams.
