The report by Julien Rouart reflects a moment of psychoanalytic thinking in France, comparing the Freudian conception of analysis and the Anglo-Saxon post-Freudian contributions, before considering the appearance of the contemporary developments inspired by Winnicott and Bion concerning non-neurotic clinical situations. He points out, however, in “Remembering, repeating and working-through” the role of unrepressed traces in acting out and suggests that he is unsatisfied with the genetic theorization of behavioural acting out.
