The author compares psychoanalytic work and the work of literary creation from the angle of the spaces of freedoms and servitudes which underpin them. Associative freedom is based on a form of exerted by the setting of which the analyst is the guarantor. The freedom of the creator implies a setting just as restrictive which is based on specific times and a singular spatial arrangement. While analysis is a process that favours self-invention with the support of the presence of the analyst who supports reflexivity, the work of writing fails in this reflexive function. A symbolizing effect may occur in the reader, but not in the author regardless of the qualities of the work. The reserve of the uncreatable is the matrix of an inextinguishable suffering in the literary creator. It is the source of an exigency which sometimes results in the work devouring the creator.
