Having participated in 2008 in the Foundation of the Lebanese Association for the Development of Psychoanalysis (ALDeP), the first psychoanalytic association recognized by the International Psychanalytic Association (IPA) in an Arab speaking country, and in 1977 in the foundation of the Department of Psychology of the Saint-Joseph University Beyrouth, where psychoanalysis has a special place, the author gives an account of her experience in connection with these two projects in Lebanon. She shares with us her disappointment with regard to the failings and transgressions of the first analytic generation, including within universities, causing traumas that had to be elaborated before it was possible to transform them and engage in a process of construction, thus leading to the act of birth of the ALDeP. She stresses the need to continue this elaboration with new generations in order to avoid the after-shocks of repetition and to preserve the place of psychoanalysis at the university.
