The author examines the extreme situations of psychic destruction in pathological developments linked to the transmission of collective traumas, in connection with the initial traumas, under the canopy of “The non-human environment” (Searles). Their transformations presuppose faith in ultimate reality or “becoming”, which is one of the meanings of O in Bion’s work. She draws on two examples: one, individual, the other collective.
