The announcement of an inevitably fatal disease was for Yohan a current trauma, reactivating the traces of an early trauma he had experienced, without it having been mentalized, causing him to collapse into a state of deep distress. The psychic collapse and the unfurling of excitation in the body were quickly resolved by BPP and gradually the capacities for masochistic binding were restored in the pleasure of shared mental functioning.
