In the light of the clinical vignette presented by Françoise Moggio, I will focus in this text on the difficulties and vicissitudes of the constitution of narcissism and auto-erotic activities in a 6-year-old boy and their repercussions for mentalization and the capacities for representation. It is during experiences of satisfaction that the baby experiences the question of waiting, an experience that will allow for the development of auto-erotic activities and the work of representation. It is important that these experiences of satisfaction have been sufficient in order to allow for the establishment of hallucinatory wish-fulfilment. This is precisely what seems to be missing in this little boy who, faced with situations of frustration, has recourse to behaviour.
