The new configurations of the sexual and the parental lead us to question and deconstruct (in Derrida’s sense) our theoretical models. Since Freud, the theoretical presuppositions concerning the feminine and the masculine, the maternal and the paternal, have often been called into question in the light of the cultural and social changes that have resulted from technological progress in particular. The questions of sexual identity and gender identity associated with these new forms of parenting put the psychoanalytic and anthropological notion of the difference between the sexes back at the centre of the reflection on the sexual and the parental. They displace it towards the enigmatic character of the differences, concerning which the feminine alone no longer represents the wall, the bedrock. The episteme of psychoanalysis seems to follow a regressive path that Freud himself followed: the Infantile is perhaps the resistant platform, obstacle and crucible of the oscillatory psychic movements on which our psychoanalytic thought continues to be based.
