The author presents the modalities of emergence of a specific session object called the posthumous economic object. If, as a result of a specific ordering of the modalities of primary hysterical identification linked to the idiosyncratic avatars of the psychic functioning of the parental couple, the subject’s psychic processuality is led to deploy itself under the sway of the ego-ideal instead of the superego, a specific modality of psychic organization will emerge in which the process of mourning the object specific to the superego will be put out of action. The result is a mode of psychic functioning under the aegis of the ego-ideal, an agency of desexualized ascetic perfection. A posthumous economic object is then constituted that has lost all its characteristics as an object of objectality. It is a purely economic object of which even the representation (Vorstellung) recedes, making way for no more than a presentation (Darstellung), a relic of the abandoned representation, a pure economic presentation of the drive.
