This article hypothesizes a radical form of hatred that is distinct from psychological hatred for a person. This form of hatred modifies the source and the circuit of the drive. Under the appearances of an operative destructiveness, we find the intention to destroy the subjectivity of the other, the humanity of which is at the same time denied. The death drive at work is not free of sadism here; what is involved is above all paranoia and a particular psychic perversion. Two essential examples illustrate this: rape and genocide. In rape, there is a denied identification of the murderous rapist with the victim. In genocide, the abolition of the otherness of the other needs this otherness in order to be able to massacre it. The methods of the subtle falsification of language produced by genocidal and totalitarian ideologies, which are resurfacing in the context of the current cultural malaise, are examined in detail.
