In this article the author considers the link between linguistic negation and the psychic operation of negation described by Freud in the article he devoted to it. Linguistic negation is a trick that allows for the return both of the repressed and the unthought dimension of the body. It combines refusal with the observation of absence and allows the subject to make a judgement for which, however, he does not assume responsibility. He also emphasizes the reorientation of meaning that Freud gives to the classical notions of judgement of existence and judgement of attribution and what this implies for a theory of how the world is taken into account by the psyche.
