The author reflects on the subjectivizing function that certain forms of rebellious behaviour can promote in pre-adolescent boys. The link between the characteristics of the pre-adolescent phase and the desire to break given rules, the will to aggressively modify behaviour and to defy the adult order is explored. A clinical case is described in which the challenge of the rebellious boy is accepted by the analyst making a subjectivizing evolution for the patient possible.
