A countertransference hallucinatory image and its reverie broke the apparently conflict-free early stages of the analysis of a female analysand with a traumatic history. The author describes the mutative effect of this episode on the analytic couple and develops an understanding of this situation from a Bionian perspective. Two dreams that occurred after years of work describe the accommodation of elements that had remained unthought and that were in search of intersubjective truth in the alpha function developing in the analysand's ego.
