In this text, the author discusses a number of developments arising from two subjects dealt with at the conference. In the first part, he deals with the vicissitudes and external extensions of the incorporated melancholic object, which now begins to be “named” whereas it was previously secretly concealed. In the second part, in the face of the loss of identificatory landmarks - exemplified by the repeated crises that have occurred in Lebanon over the years - he identifies two possible vicissitudes : subsidence, and the temporal development of a reciprocal subject in action, favourably reshaping a most disastrous destiny.
