The author recalls, extends and updates previous publications dealing with the history of psychoanalysis in Tunisia. He recalls the pioneers who introduced and practised psychoanalysis in Tunisia in the 1970s and 1980s (Torasi, Ghorbal, Halayem). He then focuses on the introduction of psychoanalysis in Tunisia by the University of Tunis, more specifically by the Clinical Psychopathology Research Unit (URPC). He also cites the context of the creation of the various psychoanalytic associations in Tunisia (SERP, ATEPA, ATFPA, EAFT, AFPEC, CPT). The genesis of the ATDP (Tunisian Association for the Development of Psychoanalysis) was the result of a long process, marked firstly by a failed collaboration between the URPC and Patrick Delaroche, and then by intense collaboration between the URPC and the Paris Psychoanalytical Society’s Mediterranean Group (GmSPP). This led to access to the SPP and the IPA.
