Can art play this crucial role in resisting barbarity? Resistance in the field of creation is directed not only towards restoration and transformation, but also continuity. Drawing on a painting by Z. Mušič, “We are not the last T.8”, we will examine the power(s) of the work. First, we will look at the history of this painting. This work can be seen as a creative work, as a testimony, and as a warning. We will then look at how the work also has the possibility of showing what cannot be said. We will then attempt to identify the virtues of the work in terms of intersubjective space. The artist plays a part, then, not only in finding and rediscovering creativity and re-establishing historical continuity, but also in restoring the knot between individual and collective destinies. The work of the artist is thus equivalent to the work of civilization.
