Based on an analysis of three sessions of a semi-open therapeutic group, this text explores the functions of the French pronoun “on” in group dynamics. It reveals how this pronoun supports processes of non-differentiation, subjectivization and identity reconfiguration. The group becomes a place for shared emotional work, promoting the transformation of archaic imagos and the formation of a common psychic envelope. The pronoun “on” thus embodies a form of meta-transference, the driving force behind the therapeutic process.
