Early narcissistic defects, owing to the precariousness of their narcissistic identity, are more concerned with identity cohesion than with drive satisfaction. Priority must be given to caring for the person, i.e. helping the subject to recognize the other without questioning his or her own identity. Caregiving approaches co-organize spatiotemporal arrangements. The scenographies at work recognize the defects and reinforce the ego. Metaphorically, they are external framing structures, a transitional area between the outside world and the inner world, between figuration, representation, and thing- and word-presentations. The project aims, based on a spatial dynamic, to lead the subject towards a lived temporality and an addressed language prior to any therapeutic aim. A clinical situation sheds light on the theoretical approach.
