This paper addresses the elusiveness of the ‘organizational other’ or ‘subject.’ The psychoanalytic understanding of the subject charts a devious course, in which the elusiveness of the subject becomes increasingly clear and leads to treating it creatively and inter-subjectively. The study and consultative stance in organizations could benefit greatly from such an appreciation of the elusive nature of the organizational subject. This has implications for how the ‘organizational voice-of-the-subject’ may be discerned and amplified by the psychoanalytically informed consultant.
