Start with the access notice on the article. PEP can search content that your current session is not entitled to read in full. A browser reset will not remove an embargo or add a subscription.
Check access in this order
- Confirm the item. Make sure you opened the full article record, rather than a reference, review or limited book preview.
- Check sign-in. Use Sign in and the method that supplies your access: PEP account, Institutional access or OpenAthens. If you have forgotten your PEP credentials, use account recovery.
- Check coverage. Confirm that your subscription is active and covers this publication and year. If access comes from a library, start again from its PEP link or approved network and ask its support team if necessary.
- Check the copyright embargo and the dates shown on the journal page. Recent issues may require a separate subscription.
- For a preview book, only selected sections are available. A publisher link can provide purchase information for the full book.
- If the access should be available, reload the page and try another up-to-date browser or device. Use browser cache guidance if pages are loading incorrectly.
Ask for an access check
Contact PEP with the article URL, publication and year, the access notice, your sign-in method and your institution if relevant. Explain the checks you tried. Do not send your password.
Use What can I access? to compare the different types of access.
